I'm Jeff Hertzberg, one of the co-authors of "Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day." I read just enough German to get myself into deep and humiliating trouble, but from your post and the comments, it looks like people are using recipes from our book with some success (I think I recognized one superlative?)
